Jak Crawford set for Abu Dhabi FP1 outing and Young Driver Test with Aston Martin

Date:

Aston Martin have confirmed that Jak Crawford will be back in the AMR25 for Free Practice 1 of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and take part in the post-season Young Driver Test.

The American driver will take over from Lance Stroll for his second F1 practice session of the season following his maiden outing at the Mexico City Grand Prix.

Crawford has already been confirmed as the team’s Third Driver for the 2026 season and been heavily involved with the team’s simulator work this year.

Heading into the final two rounds of the Formula 2 season, he is involved in the championship battle, currently second in the standings on 169 points, 19 adrift of leader Leonardo Fornaroli.

“I’m thrilled to get back behind the wheel of the AMR25 for the second time this season,” Crawford said of his Abu Dhabi opportunity.

“I’ve spent a lot of time in the simulator at the AMR Technology Campus this year, and being able to translate that work onto the track is incredibly rewarding.

“Mexico was a huge learning experience for me and I’m looking forward to continuing that development in both the FP1 session and the Young Driver Test.”

Andy Cowell, CEO and Team Principal of Aston Martin, added: “It’s fantastic to see Jak back in the car so soon after Mexico. Building mileage in the car and maintaining momentum is exactly what we aim for in developing our young drivers.

“This session in Abu Dhabi will be an important step as he prepares for his new role as Third Driver next year, and we’re excited to continue supporting his growth.”
